I spent the month of August in Fort Lauderdale attending classes at MPT (Maritime Professional Training). These classes will enable me to increase my license and credentials to serve on the YWAM Ships in a higher capacity. Most of the classes were to prepare me on how to handle different emergency situations at sea. Unfortunately, while at sea, you can’t just dial 911 when an emergency arises. As crew you need to know how to put out a fire, handle a medical emergency, or whatever other emergency might arise. Other classes were to better prepare me to lead a navigational watch and be a more effective seaman. Subjects my classes covered included radar, watchkeeping, security, seamanship, advanced firefighting, life rafts, and medical first aid. Having qualified crew is so important on the ships. Without them the ships can’t sail. God has called us to use the ships to take the Good News into isolated places around the globe. I am excited about the knowledge I have gained that will help us in spreading the Good News of Christ.

Watch this video to see some of the things I have been learning this month!
