January 2023 Update: A Month Full of Incredible Things

Hello and greetings from Aqaba, Jordan. There have been several amazing things that have happened this month that I am excited to share with you. We have been in 3 nations in the month of January. We wrapped up our time in Beirut, Lebanon at the start of the month and then sailed to Port Said, Egypt. We spent three weeks there and finished the month with a sail to Aqaba, Jordan.

During our time in Beirut, we saw over 58,000 visitors onboard the ship. What an amazing opportunity to share with these people the hope that we have. If you have followed the current state of this nation, you can imagine how desperately in need of hope that these people are. Even with the hardships they have been going through in recent years, they are such a beautiful and resilient people, and it was an honor to spend time with them.

As we continued on to Egypt, our numbers of people who visited the ship have continued to increase. We had over 108,000 people onboard the ship. I really enjoyed our time with these amazingly friendly people. They were so eager to meet us and talk to us. We couldn’t walk down the street without getting stopped several times by strangers to talk. Making friends is what we are here for, and they sure make that easy in this port.

What’s Next:

As I said in my last update, I have been praying about what happens next after my commitment with Logos Hope ends in February. Well, right after my December update was sent, I was offered an incredible opportunity to stay on Logos Hope as the Training Officer. After spending some time in prayer and getting some advice from my accountability friends, I have decided to take on this role through the end of October/beginning of November of this year. This role will definitely be a challenge to step into, but I am really excited about everything I will be able to learn while being in this role, as well as the place I will have to speak into the lives of the other crew serving onboard the ship.

I will be returning home for a bit of a break for the month of April. At that point I will have been onboard for 14 months and a break will be very helpful for me to have the energy to keep pressing forward in all God has for me here.
